In a case which seems to be of domestic violence and mental torture, a senior doctor of AIIMS, Delhi’s premier hospital, has been arrested by the Delhi Police. The arrest is done after Dr. Kamal’s wife, a fellow doctor, allegedly committed suicide on Saturday and mentioned on suicidal note about the “immense mental torture” by her husband.
The deceased Priya Vedi was wife of Dr. Kamal Vedi and both of them had tumultuous relationship. On this basis it is suspected that Priya has committed suicide in a hotel in Paharganj in central Delhi, in which Priya had allegedly checked in after a fight with her husband.
According to the police the 31 – year – old had written a detailed suicide note in which she says that she had found that her husband is a ‘gay’. Even after this truth being disclosed Priya “accepted” it. But even after that there was so much mental and physical torture by the husband which forced her to kill herself.
Dr. Kamal, a dermatologist and Dr. Priya, an anesthetist, married five years ago and was staying at the AIIMS quarters in South Delhi. In her suicide note Priya had mentioned that her husband hid his sexual orientation and also harassed her for dowry.
Dr. Priya also posted on her facebook page that she loved Dr. Kamal even after knowing his sexual orientation as she loved him so much. She adds her love’s importance was never understood by her husband and called him a criminal. She said that Kamal’s family is innocent, but Kamal is a Devil.
